AA is already reducing service at LOVE

If JB is still around. JB operates like PE. They expect cultlike devotion for cooley wages. There is a lot of discontent over at JB from both their pilots and mechanics. The airport is a community and people know and speak to each other. Things are not well at JB and the David vs Goliath hype is losing its effectiveness, sooner or later people want to be able to pay their own bills.

SWA is a different story, even after 30 years in business they maintain the enthusiasm of their workforce because they allow their workers to share in their success. SWA delivers.Thats why management types from the other carriers hate them so much. Even though I dont work for SWA I applaud every victory they have, even if it means that victory is against my current employer because a victory for SWA is a victory for sound employee relations, SWA is a rare example where "Pull Together-Win Together" and "Win-Win" really mean something other than a BS slogan. Bravo for SWA!!!Keep expanding and hopefully one day they will put Maint in ISP!!

Allow me to translate this post from Bob Owens English into plain English:

JetBlue: non-union, bad
SWA: union, good

I think that had WN moved to DFW they would have beaten AA at their own game on competing routes.

And who knows if B6 will still be around to serve DAL 8 years from now?

Yeah, RIGHT .

You'd STILL be in line, taxi-ing, waiting to take off

YOU're darn right...ever watch an AA jet taxi at DFW? You know...back when Braniff and AA shared hubs at DFW...Braniff was on the west side of the airport - AA on the east - and it wasn't nearly as busy as it is today....yet somehow all of the sudden, AA started sending a lot of flights over to the west side. Guess the runway was smoother over there.

Sec 5 of the Wright compromise contains the language requiring DAL to increase landing fees. Most monies will be assigned to capital improvemnts of AA's RJ concourse.

Accusations are so very easy to make as long as you don't let facts bother you. Airport tower determines which runway each a/c will use.

I have a friend in Houston who worked for Braniff in the Executive Reservations (VIPs and major travel agencies) area for many years. She expressed concern over 5 years before they went under. Most of her concerns were directed at Braniff management apparently ignoring some serious financial/customer service issues. She used to say, "Any 12 year old can read the financial statements and see problems." And, same complaints were coming at the Exec Rez desk from major customers time and time again.

You're both right. Harding Lawrence's stupid decisions and delusions of grandeur were certainly the major causes of BN's demise, but once the 'death spiral' started, 'Fang' (Crandall) was merciless in 'turning the screws', as well he should have been (from AA's perspective).

..........here's an article with actual numbers from the Dallas Morning News.

American cutting seat capacity at Love
Starting in April, 16 daily flights will use smaller regional jets

Friday, January 12, 2007
By TERRY MAXON / The Dallas Morning News

American Airlines Inc. will cut its seat capacity at Dallas Love Field by 30 percent on April 10 when it substitutes smaller regional jets flown by subsidiary American Eagle for the larger jets that American has been flying to Kansas City and St. Louis.

With the change, all 16 daily flights at Love Field will use 50-seat regional Embraer jets. Under the current schedule, four of the 16 flights employ larger 136-seat McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 jets.

"It better matches our capacity in that market to the customer demand," American spokesman Tim Wagner said Friday. "We know many of our passengers there are business travelers who use Love Field for its convenience."

The Fort Worth-based airline will offer the same number of flights, he said, but is "just matching the number of seats there to the number of passengers who want to fly out of there."

American returned to Love last March with service to St. Louis, Kansas City, Austin and San Antonio, using a mix of MD-80s and Embraer jets, offering 1,402 seats daily each way between Dallas and those cities.

Its current schedule has reduced the seat capacity to 1,114; the total will drop to 800 with the change in April. Mr. Wagner declined to speculate about any other changes to American's Dallas schedule

"We're always evaluating all our airports and how we can match our service there to our customers," Mr. Wagner said. "But we are committed to being at Love Field."

The dominant carrier at Love Field, Southwest Airlines Co., offers 41 daily flights with more than 5,600 seats to the same destinations.

It began its own nonstop service from Dallas to St. Louis and Kansas City in December 2005, after a federal law restricting service out of Love Field was changed to allow flights to Missouri.

Following a subsequent change to the law last fall, carriers can now fly anywhere from Love Field, as long as they first make a stop in one of nine states in the region.

Beginning in 2014, airlines will be able to fly non-stop anywhere in the U.S. from Love.

swflyer,
I'll concede the DAL point.(actually, I knew it would happen, over time)

But now, on to the GOOD stuff.

With WN's fuel hedges quickly running out(THINK LEVEL PLAYING FIELD), AA stock is over $40, and CLIMBING.

I can't quite figure out..WHICH is happening faster,

AA's stock prices going up, or the Huge amount of CA$H on hand, thats CONSTANTLY getting FATTER.
