My wife and I are eligible to become members of the AA Credit Union. I'm sure many who post in this forum are members. Is it just an average CU or is there something unique about it which we're not aware of? We are currently members of another CU which has p*ss poor service.

I am a member and I like the service I get there. I live close to the DFW airport, thats the only area that I have had dealings with. Whether at the terminals or area branches I have found them to be courteous and helpful. Maybe they should let them run the airline?

Joined many years ago until one day I went to the counter to withdraw a large amount of money. They dont do cash transactions. You are stuck with the ATM limit. I didnt like the idea of thm taking the money and not being able to get it back.

It is not a bank, it is a credit union. The will give you a cashiers check in any amount to cash at your local bank. It is all disclosed in your paperwork when you sign up to be a member.

The credit union has fantastic customer service. If you want to withdraw money, just call them and they send a check that I usually receive in a day or so. If you don't live close to a branch you can do transactions at a CO-OP credit union, I have always had one close to me in the cities that I have lived in. I use the credit union for savings only, their regular savings rate is equal to an 18 month cd at the bank I use for checking.

I would highly recommend them for savings, bill pay and loans.
It's even better if there's a branch close to you.
Use auto deposit for your paycheck and you can accomplish almost
everything else on-line.
aamechntx is right! Maybe they should run the rest of the operation

It's a good deal, no question. I am not with the company anymore but I remain an member of the credit union. It's the best one out there.

Yes, by all means join them. They are exceptionally strong with assets that make them the envy of most other C.U's. Their lending rates are competitive and they have branches at most hubs and then some. I can't speak for their checking, only savings/CD, etc., but perhaps someone else who uses them for checking can rate them in that respect.

I still use the Credit Union as well. We don't live anywhere near an AACU operated branch, but use the co-op co-op agreement at two of the local CU's here in West Bumblefrak to get cash (real cash!) withdrawals when necessary, and do everything else via the phone. I've never had a bad experience with them. Ever.

I agree. I left AA 12 years ago and still have accounts with the AA Credit Union. Their savings rates are very competitive and car loans are great as well.

I have been happy with most of their services, but their financial and investment advisers are woefully unqualified. The several whose presentations I have attended or spoken with were strictly OJT, with no formal training or pre-AACU financial experience at all.

.

Been with them for over 18 years now. I have had 2 home loans with them and 4 car loans. They have always done exactly what they said they would do when they said they would do it. I always get answers to my questions. Their electronic bill pay has never screwed up once and I have been using that since it was in beta testing. When I refied my home 6 years ago, it was 1% of the refi amount and that was it.

I have never had a problem or issue with them as long as I have been with them.
