I just happened to be surfing around and found this picture. I worked for US for many years in many positions but ended my career at the Indy Res Center and we of course handled what we lovingly referred to as "Jethro-Jet". When if ever did Metrojet fly 757-200's? Anyon have a clue?

Thanks! :D

I don't believe they did, I would bet that picture's a fake ... the red doesn't look right (could just be my monitor or the picture itself of course), but more importantly the flag before "MetroJet" doesn't look right where it is (right on the edge of the door).

Usairways 757's don't have tail numbers in the 200-299 range. The tail # on this a/c shows N277AU(old 737-200 number). Look at the flag that is up against the door(?). Nice job of doctoring! <_<

I thought it might be a fake, but in some places it looks like it could really be on there. I found it on airliners.net and it gives a may 2001 date at MIA. One never knows thus the reason I asked.. thanks!

A poor "Photo-Shop" job of a Ghetto-Jet !!!

Our B757-200's were/are Tail Numbers N600AU - N634AU...we have a couple with suffix VJ tossed into the mix as well...but the numerical sequence still falls in line.

Maybe Metrojet would have worked if it flew 757's and stuck to the routes that would fill them...instead of flying the Metrojunk 737-200's.

Its a fake.

But may I take this opportunity to comment on how much of a fan I was of the red paint job. I've always thought that mainline should be navy, Express should be red and the Shuttle white, all with the gray bottom and flag tail. Red, White, and Blue, it would be different but still very consistent. Neat-o, huh?

And that would be me that did that paint job I have to confess. I created it a long time ago when Metro Jet was still around. I was curious to see the metro jet scheme on a larger plane. Sorry to cause confusion.

Hey CLT-Douglas, since your so crafty, do you think you could bring to life my ideas in the above post?

Like a red/cheatline/gray CRJ with US Airways titles in white, and a white/cheatline/gray A320 with black US Airways Shuttle titles? :)

Sure Light Years, I will just have to find a picture with the three aircraft in the same shot. If I do I will be sure to create it and let you know. I am sure your idea would look pretty cool.

I always like Light Years' ideas. U's colors and scheme are sharp. I'd still go for a jazzier logo. How about a stylized star to evoke the flag without drawing (sort of) and diluting the symbol. But then you run the risk of looking like communist china. That would be so good.

'Tis clearly a fake.

The red on the tail should match the fuselage; it doesn't.

The craft number is a -200 number.

The nose lines do not match correctly.

Lightyears,

I finally did get around to creating the three different schemes for US Airways/Express/Shuttle. Because of time constraints I had to create them all on the A319. The shuttle white on top of gray didn't look so well, so I made some adjustments of my own. Enjoy everyone.

The photos look good. One note though is that we no longer have a dedicated Shuttle fleet so unless they put all ERJs back into a dedicated fleet, that one wont work. I do like the red for Express and blue for mainline though.
I keep hearing about new designs for the planes. Is this just the Star Alliance planes or is something else in the works? Anyone know?

I just looked at them again and I actually like the white on top of the blue better than the blue on top of the grey. Not sure if it would look better to see the dirt on the white or the rubbed marks on the blue, but I bet it would be easier to keep them cooler with the white on the top. Blue bottom looks classy too.
