A Looming AMT Shortage?

Wow. I haven't been on this forum in a very long time and well, the topics haven't changed. I know several A&P instructors at community colleges in So. Cal. From what they tell me, they do have a problem with attracting students due to the current state of the industry. They are also having a tough time with the college administrators because they seem to think that training for an A&P is not worth spending money on in order keep the department open. The industry is getting attacked from all sides. With that said, if I knew then what I know now, I also would have left the industry years before I actually did.

OSM pay raise this week, 1st 12 months up to $10.48……LOL!!!! LOL!!!!……what a joke!!!!!!…at the 'In n Out' burger drive thru today, and a sign in the window new hires starting pay $10.50!!!!!!!………..oh ya, we get flight benefits!!!!!!!!!!   LOL!!!!!  LOL!!!!!
Thanks TWU!!!!!!!!!!

It is true there is a looming shortage of AMT's however, and I think Bob Owens made a rather accurate analysis, the real shortage is people willing to put up with the B.S. to work for an airline.

The real trouble is going to come in about 10 years when the quality of most mechanics is probably going to be piss poor because (talented) people young enough are getting out of the business and fewer people are entering into it. Their is no "young blood" for the baby boomers to pass their skill and secrets onto.

Personally I think the Airlines long term strategy is to run A&P's into the ground until they bust the UNIONS (not just forcing long term low cost contracts), then you will see them go on a hiring/firing spree. People should reconsider AMFA because it seems TWU is playing right into that strategy

Just my opinion.

Personally I don't know of any shortage but I do know that Alegiant airlines gave me a $5000 signing bonus when I signed on with them only for them to fire me a week later thanks to  a whisper in their ear from AA.

As long as Government is going to allow forced Slavery there is nothing we can do about it. As  Long as we Have a Bankruptcy courts and the RLA (Rail road labor act) there is no way A&P mechanics wages are ever gonna go up ever!!

The RLA needs to be done away with corporations are using it too far when combined with the Bankruptcy laws and fucking up a whole career field and a way of life people are not going into the industry and a whole generation of workers are gonna go without a Pension.

There are reasons all of are Union brothers and sisters fought for pensions.

Any one who believes ANY THING a Business owner/Corporation says is ________
And Now anyone who believes a Union in Aviation is __________
