I see after a long stay in PIT Heavy MTC 737-301 A/C 350 is now in ARA (New Iberia, LA.) for a livery update. I can only assume this is another of the 737's with the lap-joint issue and is being stripped to bare metal and given the dot.com treatment. Can anyone confirm this ? Thanks LGA777

I'm just glad the higher ups here at US Air have finally relized that it makes sense to paint "No Brainer" on the sides of their airplanes. It fits perfect. And its fun too, when you're taxiing out and told to follow the "Silver top No Brainer."

You are correct.. Aircraft 350 will be the next DOT COM jet at US Airways.

It did however not have a long stay in PIT base Mtc. Unlike aircraft 573 that had the lapjoints modified no action was taken on 350. Instead the aircraft will be subject to the NDT inspection program.

No cracks were found during the Base Visit and the aircraft only stayed in its Check about 5 days longer than plan. (this due to some management missteps during the check) The aircraft was very clean for an older 737-300.

Aircraft 354 which is a sister ship is in PIT base now and is approx. 7 days ahead of original plan. This aircraft was also found to be in excellant condition with very few findings after the open up.

Aircraft 619 just left PIT base after a 27 day visit. It missed its original target due to a damage T/R from the VENDOR and a fuel leak in the center tank.

So lets not throw out things like "A LONG TIME IN PIT BASE" unless you know exactly what you are talking about.. With everything going on PIT base is doing a pretty good job at keeping the metal moving..

From the looks of her, N375US should be the candidate for the next dot com bird. A good portion of her paint is missing anyway. She looks like she went through a severe hail storm and lost. It is bad enough that she looks like an airplane from a third world country. What happened to her?

Hello justaumechanic. I want to apologize for the way I worded the post. I thought 350 was in PIT for a while like 573 because of the lap joint issue. it appears I was mistaken as I all I have to go on is the RGOM and RGOB entires in Sabre. I had no intention of implying anything negative about PIT MTC, in fact I always thought you folks do an excellent job. I also appreciate the update on the other aircraft. Thank you very much. Holy cow! You're right.

Here's a pic:

I saw her last week in CLT. She was outside the club window at the first C gate. From that angle you are looking down on her and the paint job is much worse than it looks in this photo.

Unbelievable picture. Glad they're finally doing something about it.

Based on an earlier post in this thread, I have no doubt that this airplane is in top condition -- but if you were a passenger and saw this aircraft, would it inspire confidence in you that this is a well-maintained piece of machinery?
