With US and UA in BK-11, DL is "hovering".

If DL goes in, Not too hard to imagine AA,CO,and NW will want "in".

Anyone who "gets in", wants to dump pensions.

If the Airlines get away with it(trying to abbrogate LEGAL contracts), Every major corperation/US business will "take a shot" claiming they can't remain competative.

A scenario like this, leaves the average working stiff with less and less job security, and benefits.

AND,

That my friends will awake a(once) "sleeping GIANT" in this country..............

UNIONS !!!!!!!!!!

Your thoughts ???

Unions? My "union" gave away more without bankruptcy than the court imposed on bankrupt airlines.

You know, five holidays, five sick days, half pay sick days, holiday pay, double time, etc.

But, on a broader view, I think you are correct, but it may be too late for us. Congress and teh senate are on the take from the corporations who want our retirement money. Congress doesn't like retirements, anyway (except theirs), as funds contributed into retirement plans are not taxable.

"Wrench",
Your RIGHT. I surely was,nt speaking about the TWU.

But it is,nt too much of a stretch to imagine if the little guy/gal continues to get "squeezed", that this country will see a revolt by working people, which in this country means a union.

Think of the pace that the working stiff is on right NOW, then factor in 4 more years of Republicans controling all 3 branches of government(and i'm not saying that John Kerry is the "ideal" candidate from the opposition)(BUT between Dumbya and Kerry, the choice is a "no brainer")

The influx of immigrants who generally are more interested in the fast buck than the long term career is a major reason why unions have lost ground that will not be recovered from a union standpoint. That's not belittling them but just says their financial objectives are different than traditional workers. While you won't see too many immigrant workers, they have become major parts of the workforce in most sectors. Pensions are not near as common in many of their homelands.

Great amfa logic here. UAL mechanics lost 6 Thousand jobs permanatly (Not a layoff as amfa likes to dress it up but PERMANANT!) yet they got a better deal because the few mechanics left have more holidays. Any wonder why AA mechanics rejected their card drive?

Ah, yes, the one-man TWU claque. (Under one of his many names)

Logic? .............Funny you should mention that. Exactly what logical process led you to say "great AMFA logic", anyway? Could it be that anyone who says something you don't like is automatically an AMFA supporter? Not hardly. Better think that one over again.

What I said stands.

Take your contentious drivel back to the Labor and Union Issues forum.
