767 and 757 heavy checks back to Tulsa.

I have a theory......

I do not know if the Alliance / AMFA / No UNION vote has happened yet (and correct me if it has)  but I believe this might just be a ploy thought up by AA and the TWU so that TWU will have a positive to present before voting. The company needs it to look like TWU got a win so that the workers will vote to keep their puppet UNION in. If that is what is going on you should see this for what it really is...... fear.

Good point, I have seen it done before.  Remember "saving the jobs" campaign?

I guess being the lowest paid mechanics is starting to work out for us.or until after we take a vote.

I would like to thank the accountant who said bringing in this work is better then farming out this work. Because we know the TWU couldn't have saved this work otherwise we would not have lost , AFW MCI SNA DTW MSP SJU and all the other stations we lost.

Funny how TWU represented FA's and rampers are near or at the leading pay for their career field but mechanics are near the bottom. And I read someplace that there are former rampers and FAs working at the ATD, there is a mechanic that use to work at pan am but has been doing union work longer then mechanics work.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Yep, I neglected to point that out, as the 757s are already being retired, several each year, and as more A321s show up, even more 757s will depart for ROW the day before their next heavy check is due.

And those 763s?   Their retirements begin once the 787s arrive in sufficient numbers.   First couple of 787s due late this year.
You need to do a little more research on the 757's. The a321 can't take the place of the 757 on certain routes. Even USAir knows that. The Airbus is an under powered aircraft, more fuel efficient yes, but under powered.

There are still AMT's at Class II SJU, get your facts straight.

I'm well aware of that, Rainman.   No need to be so much like 700UW.    ;)

I know the A321s won't be flying to HNL or on TATL flights.   They won't be flying 3,600 mile flights to S America.    But they'll be replacing most of the domestic 757s and shorter Latin American routes.

Anyway, my point was that the 757s are largely on the way out.   That's why AA hasn't been painting them and that's why many of them have not received the updated 24F interior with the new seats.   A bunch of 757s have already been retired and those retirements will continue as long as AA keeps getting new A321s.    The 20 75Ls (with the 16 NGBC seats) will be around for a while, as they were the newest 20 757s in the fleet.     If TULE employees are celebrating at the rumour that 757 and 763 heavy checks are moving to Tulsa, they need to consider the facts, and the facts are that there won't be all that many heavy checks on those two fleet types due to the upcoming retirements.

The first AA 757 has been painted and the first PMUS 757 is in the paint shop right now.

757/767 is work, period. We will take what we can get until the Airbus checks come to Tulsa.
I agree...But hypothetically how much more in concessions and pay cuts would you be willing to endure to get work and more?
