There are no borders nor limits on Chippys enthusiasm for the downside. Never a peep nor protest as Parker was scarfing stock at 43.
He only rolls out to cheerlead concessions.
Just goes to prove, you cannot blunt Parker's damage. It's limitless.
 
There is zero point in the pilots negotiating now. They should announce they are happy with current contract and will return to negotiations after the Virus runs its course.
 
Delta CEO Bastian announced that he will take no pay for the next 6 months. Dougie put out a lame statement that says senior execs will “forego raises.” This is another excellent learning moment for those really, really stupid employees who still support the Dougster. Compare and contrast.

Meanwhile, stand by for the Munn brigade to spam the web boards with their standard management shilling. After a long hiatus, they can hardly believe their luck now that corona has put them back in business. The opening salvo will no doubt be a refried version of Chip’s beloved “Unions Can Sink US Airways” op-ed. A modest 50% pay cut for all represented groups could well be the brigade’s goal. Let’s all get on board.

The agreement between American Airlines Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAL) and the Allied Pilots Association, which represents nearly 14,000 company pilots, provides three different types of voluntary leave options, according to a copy of the agreement viewed by the Dallas Business Journal. Here are the different options:

  • Voluntary Extended Leaves of Absence: an unpaid absence that can last up to 12 months. Pilots will still accrue length of service, but not sick leave or vacation. Pilots who take this option will continue to have benefits.
  • Voluntary Short-Term Leaves of Absence: will be offered in one-, three- and six-month options, according to the agreement. Pilots who opt for this will be paid and credited with 55 hours in each month, which is equivalent to approximately two-thirds of a pilot's usual pay, said Captain Jason Goldberg, APA spokesperson. Pilots still receive benefits and will accrue sick leave, vacation leave and seniority under this option.
  • Voluntary Permanent Leave of Absence: will be offered to pilots 62 or older. Once accepted, this option cannot be revoked by the company or the pilot. This option pays pilots for 50 hours per month from the start of the leave until the pilot reaches the mandatory retirement age of 65.
 
Perhaps Doug Parker will be faced by a large poster, or many posters like this as he mounts the flight of stairs to the US Capital building as he and other CEOs make the case for airline bailouts.
As well as the chart showing the egregious stock buybacks enabled by tax cuts for US businesses that were squandered on buybacks.
