Really nothing new here except for the concern over squatters rights to pop up all over in other cities and airports;
“We are supportive of the DOT’s and the FAA’s policies regarding competition as interpreted in the past. However, we are concerned that DOT’s December 17 letter [to Dallas] creates a new ‘squatter’s rights’ concept by declaring that any airline accommodation, even a temporary one, may last in perpetuity at the option of the accommodated carrier,” wrote Michael Boland, acting commissioner at the Chicago Department of Aviation.
