At this point bankruptcy seems inevitable with or without the acquisition of Spirit. Currently they are bleeding cash on a daily basis. Their costs have risen dramatically, not to mention the agreement Hayes brokered just to get the Spirit BOD and shareholders to hook up. So, if the DOJ rules against the deal, they will need to back out of that deal and the best way is to add them to the long list of debtors they already have by way of a bk court. If the deal goes through, they are buying another carrier who can't make a profit and has seen revenue drop dramatically in 2023. So two money losing carriers would need to stop the bleeding before they could turn things around (which once the dust settles they probably could.) And it seems only a bk judge could give them the relief they most desperately need. And let's not forget new Jetblue CEO Joanna Geraghty and her famous mantra to employees over the years...Contracts are made to be broken. Her words, not mine.
