What is the difference between a Zed fare and a One World fare? I need tickets on All Nippon or Japan Airlines as backups, which is cheaper? Thanks

Prices are the same. It's based on mileage. One World is where Zeds started. Call the airline you want to fly on and make a listing with your employee number. Then call 1 800 we fly aa and make another listing and go to the ticket counter and buy the zed paper ticket.

Thanks so much.

Point of order... Oneworld didn't invent ZED by any means.

AA's first ZED deals were with Star Alliance carriers LH and SK. The oneworld ZED deals followed a year or so later.

ZED = zonal employee discount. The appeal over a ID90 was the ability to swap destinations and carriers within the same zone as ticketed. Not sure how much those rules have changed over time thanks to security and eticketing...
