Wireless Coming To The Clubs?

Meanwhile the rest of the world is realizing that charging for hotspots isn't worth the effort.
I tried to talk somebody at the PIT airport into putting an AP right outside the club in the core with a large omni antenna a few months ago, because I was tired of walking downstairs to the food court.

That said, I agree with what you are saying (even though I'm already a t-mobile subscriber).

This from the company's inhouse daily "news" message:

2/US AIRWAYS TEAMS UP WITH T-MOBILE FOR CLUB SERVICE

Select US Airways Club locations this month will be
equipped with T-Mobile HotSpot wireless broadband
"Wi-Fi" service, adding to the more than 4,100 existing
T-Mobile HotSpot access locations. US Airways Clubs at
Ronald Reagan Washington National and San Francisco
International will debut the new T-Mobile HotSpot
service this month, with US Airways Club locations in
Philadelphia, Boston, and New York LaGuardia to follow.
This relationship gives US Airways customers another amenity to make traveling
more productive and creates more convenient locations
for reliable Internet access for T-Mobile HotSpot
customers.

"US Airways is pleased to offer this service
enhancement, which makes our Clubs an even more
efficient virtual office," said Ben Baldanza, senior
vice president of marketing and planning. US Airways
Club members can subscribe to T-Mobile HotSpot service
by calling 1-877-822-SPOT (7768) or by visiting t-
mobile.com/hotspot. T-Mobile operates the largest
carrier owned Wi-Fi wireless broadband network in the
country, available in public access locations including
Starbucks coffeehouses, Borders Books and Music and
Kinko's.

I suppose it makes some sense at SFO from a demographic standpoint, but OTOH the club goes away in a few months.

DC, OTOH, makes sense from a number of fronts.

For the same reasons as SFO, RDU would make a ton of sense to deploy early on in the process.

One of T-Mobile's largest competitor uses my company for their call center support services. I can assure you there are many people out there still that are willing to pay for hotspot services.
