No that is dumb, cost are irrevelant in revenue managment. That is also why airlines do not price by the mile. Every flight is a different market unto itself and only supply and demand determine the fare a ticket is sold at and that is constantly changing.

I think we should charge by butt width. It doesn't matter how much you weigh--some weight lifters are not that physically large but weigh a good deal more than others because of the muscle density--BUT, if you spread out over the boundaries of the assigned seat, you pay more.
