The Trib article mentions that US AIRWAYS plans to fly to 6 cities on April 4th out of PIT and that they are training ground employees there. Are the current PIT fleet service employees the ones being trained because I haven't heard of MDA actually hiring any MDA fleet service yet.

Pittsburgh-Atlanta/Nashville/Albany/Syracuse/Newark/Boston as well as Philadelphia-Kansas City. These are the first set of routes to be flown on 4/4 when Mid Atlantic starts up.

We had a Fam flight come to EWR today and I spoke to 2 agents from MCO that said they will be getting a flight or 2 from PIT :cold:

Nobody here in Pit Fleet has been trained for MDA that I know of. Just the opposite in fact. We keep hearing that catering is being farmed out to cater MDA aircraft. Maybe this means Express will load the MDA aircraft too. Only a hunch.

Someone from mainline fleet service is training for E-170's. There is a training class under A-13 jetway everyday...and no it is not anyone from express

Mainline Fleet Service workers are being trained for MDA. Apparently, at least for now, MDA won't be hiring any rampers, since the mainline people will be used.

You would hope that at some point, this might necessitate calling back some furloughed rampers.

That would make sense, but then again, what makes sense, and what actually happens, are usually two different things.

You can see pictures of the MDA training in PIT here: http://www.iamlocal1044.org/
