Keep Delta My Delta!
Hello *&^^%$#
As 2006 comes to a close, we want to say "Thank You!" for choosing Delta and honoring us with numerous industry awards based on your high marks. We have big plans to make 2007 even better for you, and wanted to give you a sneak preview of what's in store. We also have a more immediate announcement: we thought you might be interested to learn that our airline now has taken a crucial step toward becoming the very best, truly global airline—one that is committed to constantly improving your travel experience and expanding your access to the world.
Delta has unveiled its plan to exit Chapter 11 in the spring of 2007 as a strong, independent, standalone carrier. Delta's standalone Plan of Reorganization is intended to enable us to emerge as a fundamentally new and different airline that will be a strong global carrier with a profitable, long-term future. Delta's standalone plan will help:
Keep airfares more competitive in more worldwide markets
Keep the convenience and choice of our extensive domestic and international route system
Enhance the value and reach of your Delta SkyMiles® and partner airlines opportunities
Protect the high level of customer service you deserve and have come to expect
Deliver greater operational reliability and on-time performance
At the same time, Delta's Board of Directors has unanimously rejected the unsolicited proposal made by US Airways to merge with Delta. The people of Delta have been buoyed by the outpouring of support from customers who oppose the US Airways' proposal and want to "Keep Delta My Delta!". Many of you have asked how you can help. If you'd like to lend your support, we invite you to log on to KeepDeltaMyDelta.org and sign our e-petition. Thank you!
Importantly, we continue to move full steam ahead to deliver the exciting new improvements and products we have in the works for you! Among the many things you can look forward to enjoying are:
Totally horizontal lie-flat seats in select Boeing 777 BusinessElite® class sections coming in 2008
Your personal music and video selections on your own iPod from Delta's industry leading in-seat entertainment systems featuring cool new programming—all on-demand
Upgraded technologies to help you better plan and manage your trip through a new SkyMiles award calendar on delta.com, combinable SkyMiles awards, expanded Delta Messenger service and multi-lingual capabilities on-line and on the kiosks
High-quality food and beverages from celebrity partners like Michelle Bernstein and Rande Gerber on many Delta flights worldwide
2006 was an exciting year for Delta and our customers. Having made significant improvements to our products and added more than 70 new international destinations, we were honored when readers of Business Traveler magazine recognized Delta as having the best loyalty program, best airport lounges, and best Web site. We were inspired when a J.D. Power and Associates survey ranked Delta #1 for customer service in aircraft cleanliness, baggage handling and flight crew, and in the top two among all network carriers for overall customer satisfaction. And now, as 2006 draws to a close, we are focused on making 2007 even better for you.
On behalf of the 45,000 Delta people dedicated to serving you worldwide, thank you for continuing to choose us as your preferred airline, and warm wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
