Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer will attempt to set the record for the longest flight of all time by flying over 1200 miles further than any aircraft or balloon has ever flown; a feat to be accomplished without stopping, refueling and without much sleep for its sole pilot -- legendary aviator Steve Fossett.

The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer -- one of the first to participate in NASA's new pilot program designed to expand access to the space shuttle's runway and landing facility -- will take off from the KSC, fly around the world, to pass the KSC again and then continue on to England.

This record attempt is made possible by the innovative use of new technology, lightweight composites and fuel-efficient systems that could change the face of flying in the future.
