I love paragraph three. Its announced USAirways will be a regional
airline!!! Not that we didn''t already know that was his intentions anyway. Wonder what more cuts he will ask for in 2004 as he
announced. This guy....what is he up to?

While in Chapter 11, US Airways got permission to sever its relationship with a hub airport in Pittsburgh. Siegel said US Airways next week hopes to receive a better offer from the airport, which might induce it to stay. But if the price is too high, "we do have contingency plans. We have to be able to make money," Siegel said

..............

So who did he get permission from to screw PIT and it''s employees?? It''s rumored that Dave is getting his improvements to the PIT airport and concessions as long as he promises to increase PIT service. Wonder if it is enough for him or will he threaten PIT again after a few months?? Does he keep his promises...?? AH...........NO!

Bet there''s a threat within 6 months.

I believe from now on that Super Dave''s threats will ring hollow..He no longer has the bankrupcy hammer.

You forget that Dave did a stint at CO. Serial bankruptcy is a well developed art there.

I''m thinking that if Dave cut back and just flew PHL-CLT-DCA-LGA-BOS and cut out all the rest we''d make a profit. Exactly $1.95, and that''s only if you sell enough stale sandwiches for $10 each.

If I was Jim Roddey or Ed Rendell, I''d be offering to build JetBlue a maintenance facility for Airbus'' 32x series aircraft _and_ a regional jet training facility in PIT, just to give Dave and Dave the proverbial finger.

Midwestern hub, anyone?

Let''s not hit the panic button just yet. First off, it will take many years for jetBlue to have enough RJs to make serious incursions into PIT and/or CLT using that aircraft type. Also, the deliveries do not start until 2005. A lot can and will change between now and then! That being said, US is trying to position itself to be able to compete should something of the like happen. Given today''s market, US has made incredible strides to getting there.

If you guys want to go there....

I''ll even go one further, if U only fliew out of PHL, they would make a profit.

Well as long as U continues to concentrate on one coast, has three hubs within a thousand mile radius, all of which are within a few hundred miles of the eastern coastline, we will continue to be prime targets because we are geographically the weakest. U has painted itself in a corner and may not be able to get out of it.
