Bloomberg reports that US is tankering fuel into NYC to ensure that its planes have enough fuel to escape NYC while DL, AA and B6 report that they aren't tankering fuel just yet. No word on UA. Another article claims that WN and Republic are also tankering fuel into NYC:

By tankering fuel into NYC, this move potentially increases US' costs while helping lessen the impact on the competition. The competitors don't face the increased operational costs of carrying extra fuel and by tankering fuel into NYC, US is helping to reduce the possibility of shortages in NYC, helping to ensure that the airports have enough fuel for DL and AA. Shrewd move by Parker/Kirby or too big an assist to DL and AA?

Some articles are reporting a temporary gasoline shortage in NYC.

Tankering fuel is nothing new, and this is just for a short term anyway. I would prefer to be assured that flts are able to depart without any fuel issues. US tankered fuel years ago when there was a significant cost difference in a given station, or even to ensure a quick turn in an outstation.

We tanker gas all over the place daily. All that tells me is that NYC is price gouging during this, anywhere that we tanker means the price is too high for mgmt.s taste.

All the islands are tankered to. Most smaller airports are tankered to (MYR, ILM, RIC, etc)

Price... Bingo.
