With service growing considerably in FLL, any clue where US will be getting additional employees from?

How many FLL based workers have been furloughed?

Will US recall any of these folks?

Will they offer transfers from other cities?

I hope the answer isn't exclusively more kiosks!

They will post openings for current employees to bid. Based on seniority and qualifications, they will be awarded from current employees or from furloughed employees. I doubt there will be any problem at all staffing FLL from USAirways rosters. FLL is a "cherry" assignment and will remain very senior no matter how many openings arise from any expansion.

I would look to see a reduction of things in MIA....and possibly a complete transfer of the Maintenance Dept in MIA to FLL. A Mini or even Micro Hub will require Line and Overnight Maintenance and at least a 2 Man Stores Dept. to support such an operation....with the proximity to MIA , MIA having such an operation would become redundant.

FLL currently has NO Maintenance or Stores....look for major changes to this , If and When Sudo-Fortress FLL becomes reality? We still have many obstacles to bridge before the welfare recipiant starts shopping for a new Cadillac.

The IAM Mechanic and Related contract forbids them to just close MIA mtc and move it to FLL, the company has tried to do that before.

All employees in MIA have to be abolished and the new FLL jobs be put up for system bid.

Don't count on the move. FLL is a very compact airport. There isn't room for much. MIA has the space. Airlines don't always have maintence bases in major stations...look at some of American Airlines and American Eagle's bases: Tulsa, Marquette, and San Luis Obispo. Another example is United, who has a big maintence operation in Oakland (not their SFO hub), which is less congested and easier to operate.

Big Whoop...So they abolish MIA and re-bid to FLL , do you think for a moment that such symantics would stop them? , if they intend to semi-hub another city just a few miles away from a current operation?

I think you are too focused on spouting the IAM's CBA position Vs. using logic and reason.

MIA does roadtrip work to FLL quite often , that is when it's beyond a contracters ability to deal with it....so if FLL becomes a bigger deal , with greater numbers of RON aircraft...The work can be shifted within the CBA guidlines , then MIA could be handled like FLL is at present.

FLL being compact or not?...Can still support a "LINE Maintenance" operation as a Mini or Micro Hub would absolutely warrant. We have LINE Maintenance in city's that see far fewer daily flights than what a proposed FLL Mini/Micro Hub would suggest. ORD , RIC , ORF , ATL and a few others come to mind.

I was not for a moment suggesting that FLL would become a "Base Maintenance" operation...so if you have a ramp and a place to run an engine? FLL's size has no impact on what logically should take place in the event that FLL plays out as they are speaking of doing.

FYI....MIA only sees 3 to 4 RON Acft per night at present....so a move t a proposed Mini/Micro Hub would present greater numbers of RON Acft and Thru-Flights. The scope of these facts would support my conclussions hands down.

BTW.....I have worked in FLL a few times ...and it's not exactly small or surrounded by water or commercial developement on par with the likes of LGA or MIA either So anything is possible as long as we still remain in operation?

The bids have to go up system-wide, so the workers in MIA are not guaranteed a job at FLL, anyone in the US system can bid them.

I don't recall disputing the facts of the CBA on any of my observations...it can be done ...and it would logically have to be done , if FLL is to become what they are talking about?

Take a moment away from being an IAM Drone....and consider the expansion posibilties and potential gains for all the Unionized Groups , if and when FLL's expanse becomes fact.

FLL's expansion can mean plenty of positive gains for all on the property.....and it damn sure has more to gain than sitting behind a feeble CBA and saying why it has to be detriment to positive moves for a change

Just remember , The CBA's have not preseved the jobs of thousands so far...nor has it prevented millions of dollars worth of Airbus work going into the pockets of Non-U AMT's , Stock Clerks and Planners in Mobile.

I'm sure they are laughing their asses off while drinking "Singapore Slings" about your beloved CBA ....FYI , I hope the IAM prevails on the subject , I'm just tryng to keep you honest as to what your CBA'a really amount too at this point in the juncture. I'm sure many furloughee's whom have become so thanks to supposed holes in the CBA will agree.

The verdict is out on the airbii, unfortunatly the laws prevent the union from doing anything besides following the process.

And you will see the Airbus decision going in favor of the IAM.

And there was no CBA, there would be no maintenance department.

Huh? All of FLL is surrounded by development. That is why their runway expansion plans have gone nowhere.

Item 1------ We all know about the legal process on the Airbus dispute , No news there.

Item 2----- I hope you are 100% correct for a refreshing change

Item 3---- Step back into the real world. Thier are many fuctioning Maintenance departments in this world that DO NOT have a CBA....have you ever encountered a self-fixing aircraft anywhere in your life?

Sure....U is a great example of poor leadership ,and spawns a complete lack of trust and suspect integrity , but on the other hand , most if not all unions are equally interested in lining their pockets as well.

Let U start really looking like the doors will close for good...and you will see how quick the Union Leadership backs down in hopes of keeping those dues rolling in..regardless of where it leaves the dues paying members financially? ALPA is the primary example..and the others will follow suit. Think I'm kidding? Take a walk on the side of the reality and business for awhile. I hope you do not have to find out the hard way. Just be prepared for the possibilities.

Lets see

WN, AA, UA, NW, US, CO, ATA, AS, Aloha, Hawaiian, and many more are all unionized, only major not union is DL and they pay more to keep the unions out.
