Ah, the magic of TiVo. :D

<static>
<black screen, light coming from center of tv>
Voiceover: Hey, I think it's about time we talked. I'm flattered you find me so... irresistable, engaging, seductive. I'm happy to show you recycled plots with characters who have one less dimension than my screen, but they're just pictures in a box. You should get out more.
<static, cut to beach scene with a couple walking and holding hands>
VO: How about the beach? By flying US Airways, you'll really really be holding hands in the sunset.
<cut to airborne US plane (752), old livery>
VO: Now go, book your next getaway at usairways.com, where you'll pay less and get more.
<black screen, light coming from center of tv>
VO: It's gotta be better than, than this.

The point is--- this bunch of naybobs has never ever had a marketing department----much less spent a dime on any kind of advertising on TV or in the newspaper---another one of these "we know how to run a airline".

Gee that's all they had to do was run a TV commercial to save the airline. Gosh why didn't they think of that sooner ?

At least we are on television.....and not in the news for a negative story. Better than not having a commercial.

Watch out totobird ---you said a dangerous word-----"Gosh why didn't they--think--- of that sooner ". Wheres this been the last 15 yrs.

I haven't seen the commercial, but I can tell you this....America West knows how to do a commercial. We've had some pretty good ones over the years. One of my favorites is the one that starts out with scenes from a mosh pit with bodies flying all over the place with blairing heavy metal music and starts by saying something like "some airlines don't assign seats" inferring Southwest of course....and finishes by highlighting the fact that with America West you'll avoid not having an assigned seat and avoid "the mosh pit". That was classic!

Jeez! After reading this post and a couple of others from you on other threads, I have to wonder if you're sitting there on the side of the bed with a bottle of Valium, getting ready to wash the whole thing down with a liter of vodka. Can you ever find anything positive to say?

"Bitter, party of one....you're table is ready."

Couldn't agree with you more!

Really...... What's wrong with a commercial. Ok, so we have lacked marketing in the past. I think that is about to change. Positive is all that it is. It sure doesn't hurt.

I sure hope so b/c the old US's marketing STUNK. Never proactive advertising. Only the reactive GoFare advertising and that took a bit to kick off. Hopefully HP will begin a big advertising campaign in phl to celebrate and promote the new US. The old US figured, they have to fly us, they have no choice in PHL--they were wrong.

Don't expect "a big advertising campaign". What you can expect is a thoughtful, well timed and effective advertising campaign. Currently AWA is running 3 or 4 different commercials in partnership with major local businesses. It's really quite brillant in that the major local businesses are sharing the cost of the commercials with AWA and AWA's cost is minimal. You see it's not quantity, it's quality and getting the most bang for your buck. It shows that AWA leadership really does their homework before spending money. I'm sure Doug and team will want to show the east coast that a "new sheriff" is in town, but don't expect poorly done commercials!

US does that a *lot* with its Caribbean advertisements. The tourism board for the island to be marketed pays for the ads, and US just shares in the publicity. It's all print ads and a few billboards, though, no TV.
