GREAT NEWS!
Unfortunatly, most new hires in res don't stay too long. There is no incentive..pay stinks, work hours and days off are rotten, with little hope for moving up to better schedule, working holidays and expected to be at work regardless of icy/snowy roads. Many newbies quit before class even ends. It will be interesting to see if the new management in place (Tempe vs Crystal City) causes an improvement in this area. This is a step in the right direction to get those international call centers closed, and hopefully win back the customers we've lost over it.
GREAT NEWS!
(and, parenthetically, I'm a redneck!)
It's just a typical entry level job, and a catch-22. Part of the reason it has a high turnover is the low pay ..part of the reason for low pay is high turnover. Unfortunately, like other entry level jobs (retail, fast food, etc) there's not a whole lot to be done to dramatically decrease the turnover. Higher pay may help a little, but I honestly don't think it would decrease turnover all that much.Unfortunatly, most new hires in res don't stay too long. Dont bet on it. Turnover is extremely high in Tempe. If Doug cared enough to lower the turnover they would have agreed to pay parity now instead of waiting for 2 years. Its not just the low pay or hours. Its that no one respects what you do. Its not brain surgery or flying an aircraft but there is a some knowlege required. We are expected to give good customer service and sell while being given set limits for length of calls and limited amount of time not on the fon. Most of us that have been here for a while enjoy what we do. It can only be internal satisfaction and having worked with some good people that keeps us there. Many of us dont think of this as a long term career only a job but something that does have some value to this company. I just question how they think they can staff these centers with caring employees when no one cares about the employees. Its going to get pretty interesting.Unfortunatly, most new hires in res don't stay too long.
