US Airways Group Inc. reported a 0.5 percent decrease in mainline revenue passenger miles to 5.7 billion in June compared with the same month a year ago.

However, consolidated revenue passenger miles, which also includes express flights, increased between 2 percent and 4 percent, said US Airways President Scott Kirby.

A revenue passenger mile is the equivalent of flying one paying passenger one mile. It's the benchmark measure in the airline sector.

Capacity, or available seat miles, at US Airways in June checked in at 6.7 billion, up 0.4 percent versus June 2007. Passenger load factor was 85 percent, down 0.8 points.
