US Airways may begin serving YTZ. Permission Granted from the TPA.

That airport is in the middle of the water and you have to take a ferry to get to Toronto and it is very small I doubt anything larger then an RJ could land there.

We flew from Ottawa to there in an AC Dash 8.

The longest runway is 4000 feet.

No jets allowed. Service is planned to be 3x Dash 8's PHL-YTZ.

USX previously served the airport with CommutAir Beech 1900's on a HPN-SYR-YTZ routing.

There is a current thread on another site (the blue one) about Porters success at YTZ and it mentions they are starting YTZ-EWR April 1st probably with 7 nonstops per weekday. Some of the Toronto locals on that thread say they are saving at least 1 and sometimes 2 hours using YTZ over YYZ due to traffic and distance from downtown. Many improvements where just completed at YTZ both to the Terminal and ferry service to downtown. One big plus for US would be because of Star Alliance AC Frequent flyers could probably earn miles on these flights whereas they can't on Porter. If US does end up operating the Q400 then here is a perfect market to deploy it.

This is fantastic, I hate the ride from Pearson when I'm going downtown. If they ever come through with the upgrades to the terminal that they've been discussing, this is going to be great for anyone going to downtown Toronto. You can be at SkyDome or the Air Canada Center in five or ten minutes from the time you walk out of the airport.

there is a reason we left MDW and fly to ORD.
most of the passengers traveling to and from YYZ are connecting.

And those connecting passengers can continue to connect via YYZ, there is no way we will fly to YTZ and drop YYZ entirely.
