INTERESTING! I'd bet that UAL has apps or is flying those exact same routes. Why is this important? Because only two US carriers can fly a given city pair to/from Mexico.ITRADE said:New on the docket:

Codeshares do not count towards the 2 carrier per city-pair limit. There is a different limit (either 4 or 5, I forget which) for the number of codeshares permitted in a market. Indeed, US was recently denied its application for its own IAD-CUN service, since there are already 2 carriers in the WAS-CUN market.iflyjetz said:INTERESTING! UAL was applying for a bunch of DEN- Mexico slots, with plenty of other carriers (Champion, etc) trying to bid for the same routes ... they were destinations already served by FRNT.
The upshot of all this is that if both codeshare/death * partners tie up international city pairs out of each other's hubs, then they have a virtual monopoly. I'd be willing to bet that UAL has requested multiple CLT to Mexico routes.
