Us Airways Begins Nonstop Service To Venice

ARLINGTON, Va., May 9, 2005 -- US Airways today launches its new seasonal daily nonstop service between Philadelphia and Venice, bringing customers convenient access to one of the most romantic and unique cities in Europe.

The inaugural flight will depart Philadelphia at 5:55 p.m., arriving in Venice at 8:20 a.m., the following morning. The return flight will depart Venice at 11 a.m., tomorrow, and will arrive in Philadelphia at 2:45 p.m. The Venice service is flown using Boeing 767-200ER aircraft with 173 seats in Coach Class and 23 seats in Envoy Class, and will operate daily through Oct. 28, 2005.

Also this month, US Airways will resume its seasonal summer service to Dublin, Glasgow, and Shannon, and will begin new nonstop service to Barcelona on May 16, 2005.

US Airways is Philadelphia’s largest carrier, offering 494 nonstop daily departures to over 100 destinations. In addition to its seasonal European schedule, US Airways operates year-round service between Philadelphia and Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Rome. US Airways is a member of the Star Alliance, which was established in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to offer customers global reach and a smooth travel experience. The members are Air Canada, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Spanair, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways International, United, and VARIG Brazilian Airlines. South African Airways will join the alliance within the next 12 months.
 
Wait until they drum up cargo contracts. I can't tell you how many times (and drinks) I've consumed in a 330 or 767 sitting on a gate in A or A-West waiting for cargo to be loaded...
 
Seems like some of the other Int'l flights were so lucky, especially Madrid. Paris was pretty well delayed because of maintenance as well.
 
Anybody know why the A330 that does PHL-SJU-PHL has been swapped out for a 767 the past 2 days? Anybody know if the A330 will be back tomorrow? (Keeping fingers crossed)
