US Airways Applies For Buenos Aires and Montevideo

It won't be on US Airways metal, unless they bought some top-secret ultra longe range A321's that seat 385 passengers. It's also pretty obvious it won't be Delta doing the flying for them either so i guess that leaves United. It's just a shame you don't have the lift to do the flying yourselves. :(

The application is for service on US metal. If you read closely, it states US currently serves EZE and MVD via its codeshare with United, but this renewal gives US Airways the option of starting their own service. Since it was renewed on 17 Jan, I would say the company intends to start service down there.

Another poster mentioned we are supposed to be getting at least 5 A-330's from Swiss Air. If true, they have enough range to fly to Buenos Aires out of either PHL or CLT

Unfortunately, the wording is the standard for most code share applications and in fact is simply a renewal of the UA codeshare. Wish it were otherwise though. If they were authorized. US could fly those routes in 2009 with to-be-delivered 330-200s. US had better get something going soon because U.S. - Europe will likely be at saturation in the near future, especially if Open Skies is approved.

Re-read section four.

US can, if it decides the market conditions are right, to serve the market(s).

Secondly, there are plans in the works for a huge Intl expansion at U whether the DL deal goes thru or not.

US lost out on that opportunity. I am pretty sure all those 330's have been taken.

The 330s are going to TP. There were only 3 of them. The whole 350 thing is becoming a soap opera.

In fact I am going to start a new thread about it!

No, US can't. While the language in the request, and presumably DOT's subsequent approval, would theoretically allow US to serve EZE with its own equipment, the current U.S.-Argentina bilateral agreement does not allow more than four U.S. passenger carriers to serve Argentina. And that maximum has already been reached with AA, CO, DL and UA now offering such service from their respective hubs. Thus, even if DOT allows it, US cannot start its own service to EZE right now due to bilateral restrictions.

Although US could start its own service to MVD whenever it wanted to, the market simply isn't large enough to support it as a standalone service, especially from the US hubs in PHL and CLT.

The onky thing US plans to fly that far south is our employees morale and our customer service.

What's this I hear about you serving three whole mini's to that guy Piney Bob. If you're gonna serve him that many minis on a 53 minute flight at least poison the bastard!
Later etops, I saw customers smiling I gotta put a stop to that before it gets out of hand.

Travis.
that was funny . :D
