US Air's Integration Hurdles

You would think after years of covering US AIRWAYS for the Charlotte Observer then going to work for US AIRWAYS at CCY, he would know it has not been US Air for years!

This is my "favorite" quote from the article--says it all, doesn't it?

"The new motto is profit before comfort," Flores says.

Here's the best quote from the article:

Parker, by contrast, has said he would be happy to return to running the airline, where job one will be to complete the merger between US Airways and America West Airlines.

Now, what does that say to you? To me, it suggests DoUgIe considered merging with Delta a much more important endeavour than finishing the HP/US merge and making sure US was humming along like a well-oiled machine.

IMO, the Delta merger would have simply prolonged the misery for the rest of us while Senor Corona shopped his new Frankenstein Monster to the highest bidder, cleaned up and cashed out.

My favorite is "They break everything they touch..." I should'nt laugh, it is'nt funny, but I was rolling when I read that.

I still contend that if the DL deal went through, the US east operation would have been bifurcated from the west for DOJ satisfaction and there goes the Philly factor, the disgruntled east employees and a host of other issues.

US East would have been sold down the river in pieces.
