Beginning June 15, United will add three daily flights into Honolulu, four into Maui, two to Kauai and one to Kona on the Big Island.

United said it will return to 20 flights a day in the fall.

I'm really not understanding this management team. They park airplanes, but then add flights. I wonder where the left is going to come from. If they were smart they would re-deploy some of those 737's to intra-Hawaii flying to pick up where Aloha left off.

I was under the impression that Mainland-Hawaii flights were revenue losers made up mostly with FF awards, tour operators and consolidators.

They might have a vacation planned, and its the only way they can get there, by adding flights...It's all a conspiracy!

There is a lot less capacity between the mainland and the islands now. If they restrict the reward seats, they may be able to get higher fares that would actually make the flights profitable. I never understood why Hawaii flights weren't treated more like international flights - because of the distance - I am aware they are a state. I mean really, we have shorter USA-Europe flights than some of the mainland-Hawaii runs. (NYC,ATL,ORD)
