United Flight 9073 To Be Hijacked

Good drill! But, I have to ask, have any of the employees been given a chance to nominate an executive to be the "hostage killed and thrown onto the tarmac?"

If United were smart, they'd offer a boatload of cash and incentives to Gordon Bethune to come in and truly turn this airline around. While fuel is indeed the wild card that is killing this industry, even ignoring that, I don't think Tilton has any clue how to reinvent United into a consistently profitable airline.

The unfortunate part is that it's his 'clue' on how to reinvent an Airline. It runs akin to Aesop's Fable about the Emporer's New Clothes--he's naked as a jaybird, and his 'advisors' keep selling him the new duds. He doesn't pay attention to his CEO ratings, (which for analogy purposes-- it's what he's wearing) and that seems to be the case.
