Glasair Aviation has announced a revolutionary program called "2 Weeks To Taxi," making it possible for aircraft enthusiasts to take two weeks of vacation time to build a complete Sportsman aircraft, a state of the art aircraft design that offers better performance, utility and economy than many certified, pre-assembled designs currently on the market.

Marc Cook, editor of Kitplanes Magazine, beta tested the new program. He went from quick build kit to 1st flight in 22 days. Cook labeled the program "truly revolutionary," stating that what really surprised him was the quality of the product and how much he learned about maintaining his new Sportsman aircraft.
According to Glasair President Mikael Via, "Traditionally, the biggest objections to a kit aircraft have been: (1) the huge time commitment, (2) the uncertainty of the total cost, and (3) the uncertainty of one's skills to complete a quality project. All of these obstacles have now been eliminated," said Via.
"During '2 Weeks To Taxi,' customers are immersed in a recreational and educational setting. They take full advantage of our resources and have access to things that 'home builders' would not normally have access to, including hundreds of tools, fixtures and technical assistance from our staff. More importantly, customers receive instruction on proper assembly and maintenance techniques -- frequent reference is made to FAA's Advisory Circular 43.13, the Sportsman Assembly and Maintenance Manual and Pilot's Operating Handbook."
