MIA-GRU will go triple daily with an extra three weekly daylight flights pending government approval. Start date is 1 June 2004. Combined with the TAM codeshares, AA will offer 5 daily MIA-GRU non-stops this summer.

The merger has been postponed infefinitley. Varig and TAM have started codesharing on many domestic routes, and have said they are happy leaving it at just that.
