Tonight's Reading

It is now September 1 - USAirways is on the clock. I hate to say it but this is the month that all the big wigs having been saying is do-or-die month with the big dates of September 15 and 30 for the deadlines. My best wishes go out to all those involved.

US Airways, facing a critical Sept. 15 financial deadline...accused the machinists' union of foot-dragging.
Foot-dragging?
These people are truely clueless. Let me and my colleagues be perfectly clear:

NO!

Representatives of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers...met with US Airways' officials at the company's headquarters...to discuss what the union called $100 million in cost-saving ideas.

But according to company spokesman David Castelveter, "they failed to provide any substance to their cost-savings ideas.''
I am personally familiar with several of these cost-saving ideas. They are good solid changes in the way the company does business, that will yield hundreds of thousands of dollars of savings.

I, and all of the Mechanic and Related that I know, find it personally offensive that the only "cost-savings" this management team is interested in, is our ability to provide for ourselves and our families. Once again, let us be clear:

NO!
