I'm pretty much tired of the chicken little's running around claiming the economy is doomed. The bottom line is that we know what is needed to jump start this economy and it is rather simple. We must stop companies from moving their operations outside of this country hiring people there and importing their products back here.

A policy of " If you sell here, you must make here " needs to become a byword for activists in this nation. This may sound nationalistic in nature, but it is simply self preservation when your industry abandons you to move to nations where people will work for what would be unacceptable in this country to maintain our quality of life.

The rich might not like to hear it, free market lovers might call it criminal, republicans might scream, but the truth is still visible through all that fog. Can you think of another way to save our economy without lowering our stand of living to that of the 3rd world? Something I as a citizen of the USA am very unwilling to support!

That is protectionism, and it will not work in its purest form. Like it or not, we are now in a global marketplace, and we must act that way. There must be a balance reached as to "made in America" stuff and imported goods.

You cant have it both ways, we want to pay the least for everything, but get paid the most.

You want company's to stop shippin' jobs over-seas ? Then stop taxing the hell out of them !
The U.S. has the 2nd highest "Tax Burden" ,in the world on companys and "THE ANNOITED ONE" wants to raise their tax burden.............so much for creating jobs !

Impose " THE FAIR TAX" now and there would not be enough people in the U.S. , to fill all the jobs available in companys rushing to start or "EXPAND" their company on U.S. soil

Again, I reiterate, educate yourself and read "The Fair Tax" book !

Btw..............you would see "ALL" the money you earned from your pay check, except for local and state tax !

Wrong again. Typical talking point that McCain used and failed to win the election with.

Read below for the complete picture (bold and italics added by me):

Case in point: The United States has the second highest corporate tax rate of the 30 countries in the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). But because the United States has so many generous special tax preferences for businesses, it collects the fourth lowest corporate tax revenues as a share of GDP among all OECD countries.

If you think this stuff is over played waited till the REAL Armageddon comes!

No..........Sorry..........Your wrong again Tech ! Which doesn't surprise me.

McCain "DID NOT" run on the "FAIR TAX" platform, which would benefit "EVERYBODY", not just corporations !

How would you like to see your check, "Without" taxes taken out ?
How would you like it knowing, that not only are "Drug-runners" and "Illeagal-Aliens" (notice I didn't use the polite, demoratic term,"Undocumented-Workers) and "Foreign Tourists" were paying U.S. Taxes ?

Agian, For you slow-learners...."TECH", "EDUCATE" yourselves and read the "FAIR TAX" book !

P.S. Extra itallizized words added for "TECHS" viewing pleasure !

Fair tax plan gets everyone equally.....with that said.......can you see dragging IRS kicking and screaming to its grave?
It most likely would survive but it would be much smaller...and what about those NTEU jobs?

The IRS wouldn't kick and scream nearly as much as CPA's whose livelihood depends on this maze of tax laws.

Look that those listed in congress who are opposed.....plus what you and I mention.

Forget about it in this lifetime.

Thanks for posting this. It always amazes me how people listen to and repeat propaganda (American business has the 2nd highest tax rate in the world) without doing just a little bit of research to find out the whole truth.

I love the phrase "Made in America" How can you even define it anymore?

Which car has more domestic content Ford Tauras or Toyota Camry?

Toyota Camry built in Georgetown, KY beats Taurus as the engine is made in Windsor, Ontario.

Is French's Mustard an "American" Product?

You tell me! It's made here however Reckitt & Coleman is a UK based Company

How about Pillsbury? Alpo Pet Foods? Pearle Vision Centers? Burger King?

All owned by the brits except Nestle now owns Alpo

Haagen-Daz???

Totowa, NJ owned by the brits

Canon, Virginia builds most of HP's Laser Printers. Canon is Japanese, HP is US based so are the printers american made?

I don't know, do you?

So then just exactly how and what do we protect? As many manufacturing jobs were lost to automation as were shipped elsewhere. OTOH BMW, Mercedes, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda and others set up operations here for two reasons. One is that compared to their home countries the US is a low wage high skill country when it comes to building cars. Second reason was to stem the tide of protectionist sentiment here.
That is precisely what I meant by us being in a global economy.

No where did I mention the "Fair Tax". I simply disputed your talking point claim of:
