😀 OK, we are at the brink. It's time to start over with a whole new ball game. We have nothing to lose. Time to throw out all the rules. No one likes rules, not the passengers, or the employees. Here is my plan. No longer will there be 27 different fares between BUF and TPA. Every city pair will have only 6 different fares. First Class Peak, First Class Off Peak, Coach Peak, Coach Off Peak, Excursion Peak, Excursion Off Peak. Every flight will fall into one of the 6 different categories. No one flys for free any more except the employees. No more overbooking flights and giving away free flights. Jet blue does not over book and they are making money. No more wasted time doing oversales at the gate and asking for volunteers to give up their seats. No more charging passengers for flight changes as long as you stay in your category. If you change from coach off peak to coach peak, then you pay extra, if you go from excursion peak to excursion peak, then you break even. It is time to stop ticking off the passengers with our rules that no one can understand, including the agents. Imagine this, A huge media campaign telling the world the we are throwing out all the rules. NO MORE RULES. No more round trip purchase rules. No more Saturday night stay rules. Every ticket is refundable if you can not travel. That alone is sure to steal every AA,DL, UA, NW,CO, passenger. We have the power to change the way America travels. We have nothing to lose by trying. We are already at the brink.

Great idea. Too bad the people with the power to do this won't do it. 🙁

I think you are co-opting some of my ideas (from this and other boards) but that's okay, they aren't patented. Besides, all the Harvard MBAs and really smart people (they must be smart, they make lots of money) would never, ever, ever do anything like that in a gazillion years.

Hey, ELP, those are hardly new ideas, ya know.

Funny thing is, I'm about to get my masters degree from a highly rated business school...and I'd implement much of that in a heartbeat.
