This day in History.........

13 years ago today, on July 2, 1994, a USAir DC-9-32 crashed while attempting to land at Charlotte, North Carolina in a thunderstorm. 37 of the 57 passengers and crew aboard were killed.

Trully a sad day for the company and the city of CLT.

Thanks for the memories. We certainly appreciate your taking the time to remind us of such a memorable event.

I assume you'll be keeping us informed of all crashes on each yearly anniversary.

How thoughtful of you.

I couldn't have said it better myself!

Anyone on here remember who was working that flight?? would be nice to remember them on this day

Yes I do unfortunately as the Romans say...

"We Salute those who are about to die"

I am honoring those perished by not bringing them up but remembering those in our vast memories where they still live. Mind you I had a family member on that flight...

I don't see anything wrong with taking a moment to remember those that were onboard that flight. I have seen other similar post on this board about Flt 427, and there has never been any flack about that being posted.

I agree....it's not a bad thing to remember and respect everyone that was affected by these tragedies(victims, families, coworkers). Kinda puts our everyday challenges into some perspective. Everyone has different means of rememberence and nobody deserves to be chastised for it.

Everyone on the crew survived, I think inflight training has the video from where they interviewed the flight attendants. And there is nothing wrong with saying a little prayer for and remembering those who didn't make it. In some way that crash and most others make flying safer and it does us good to not forget where we came from.

I'm sorry to hear that. My thoughts & prayers are with everyone & their families.

I worked with the families of the victims and had forgotten today's date. I, for one, appreciate the reminder so I can reflect on the event and pray the surviving families are all doing as well as possible.

My cousin's sister walked off the flight w/ a concussion and some cuts but...since that day she hasn't stepped on a plane yet. I've been trying to convince her it's still safe

I'm glad to know she's physically OK.

The son of one of my mom's best friends was scheduled to be on one of the 9/11 flights...but he cancelled his trip the day before. Hasn't been on a plane since. I can only imagine the psychological impact of surviving a plane crash, or losing a loved one that way....and hope none of us on this board ever know what that feels like. It certainly makes the stressors in my life seem very insignificant.

sky high states: It IS a memorable event for those who CARE TO TAKE A MOMENT OF THEIR DAY, TODAY, to pray for those who were lost or forever changed. It's a tough day to remember. And, as the SIGN down at Ground Zero says, We will never forget.
