"They're cash-flow machines," analyst Ray Neidl, of Calyon Securities, told The Associated Press about regional airlines, in a Tuesday story. Although not all regionals are doing well, Mesa doubled its profit over the last fiscal year, Skywest profits are up 41 percent and Republic is up by 63 percent. Many of the regional carriers operate under contracts with major airlines, which guarantee minimum revenues and pay some costs, and the regionals don't have the expensive union contracts and pension obligations of the majors. "We have a good business model ... we're cost effective," Mesa CEO Jonathan Ornstein told the AP.

Ornstein, you dweeb!

You don't have a good business model. You're merely operating like the majors did before deregulation. You have your profits guaranteed because the nitwits that run the majors allow it to happen.

After being out of the industry for many years, I've applied at the regionals, one of which is Mesa. I keep reading negative posts on Mesa, I have no idea what they are like to work for. They seem to be solid financially despite all the troubles in the industry.
