The last aircraft displaying the US Airways name departed Toledo this evening. The aircraft was sent off with a water cannon salute, much in the same fashion mainline US Airways was honored in 2001. However this time, the aircraft was permitted to come back around for a low fly by to dip its wing at the airport. The crew of the mainline flight (in 2001) were denied by Crystal City the permission to perform such a task.

So after going from Allegheny and Piedmont to USAir to US Airways to the random USX carriers...its finally over. A perfect example of how to kill a market off little by little. Best of luck to you all in the future...off to Delta I go.

It's hard to believe. It seems like yesterday when we were taken care of oversells from a DC9, PIT-TOL. We would reroute to DTW with taxi back to TOL. Hard to believe they were not profitable. Another sad ending. Good luck to all in Toledo-you will be remembered. Best Wishes......
