The guy in the hangar next to me has decided to sell his Stearman Biplane, and I'm thinking about buying it. The airplane was used as a "bug" sprayer in it's former life and so was modified with a 450 hp P+W R-985,which makes it a very desirable bird to own. This particular airplane was dissembled and put in storage over 20 yrs ago. If you've ever seen the movie "SECONDHAND LIONS", this airplane looks just like the pile of parts "UNCLE HUB" bought. I was wondering if any other Stearman owners out there could give any insight on whether to reuse the wooden wings as they are (I couldn't find any rot or splintering anywhere) or should I rebuild them using the wing kits from BIGSKY Stearman. My budget is limited to a certain extent,so if I can reuse the wings safely without having to completely rebuild them,it would be big deciding factor on whether to purchase this particular bird.
