52nd consecutive quarter with a profit. As good as that is without the fuel hedging it was a losing quarter if I read that correctly so how bad will be for the rest of the airlines? Also even with that the cost for the airline is increasing and now nearing 8 cents. Uair wants six?

US does not have the cash to hedge the way WN does. Period. It's a benefit WN enjoys over pretty much every other carrier. Plus, at this point, hedging is a bad idea, as I can't see the price going all that much higher than it already is. But, therein lies another problem ... it's a guess. Hedge now and the price drops ... you'll end up paying more for the gas than you otherwise would.
