Good move by SWA. In case the merger gets approved and JB/Spirit are allowed to merge, SWA is getting pro-active expecting an approval. This is exactly what I was calling on the Mechanics of each airline to get pro-active and get organized prior to the merger happening. Spirit was successful in getting AMFA to represent their mechanics prior to a merger. JB still stands as unrepresented but do have a current card drive in the works. They might want to pick up the pace a little before the merger. IF JB were to go ahead with AMFA representation the integration would go so much smoother and efficient as well as fair since both sides would have the same entity as representation.
Doesn't really matter about competition with JB after merger as SWA already competes with JB as well as Frontier which is even a better and cheaper cost to compete with. JB will remove seats and increase cost so Frontier will be the lower ULCC to compete with.
Just nice to see SWA getting pro-active prior to the merger is all. Better to be pro-active rather than re-active after the fact and play catch up, if ya will.
