Someone on Airliners.net is saying they just saw a US Airways CRJ700 land at PHL. Is there something we don't know? Does Mesa have one in Airways colors? It's not PSAs... is this person just confused?

"Is this person just confused?"

If it's the same "another website" I'm thinking of, I'd say that's a good guess ;)

Maybe it was just superman, or a UFO incognito with U's logo.

It is PSA. They might be doing runs. There are two already built in the hanger and ready for delivery in the next few weeks in Montreal built to Airways and PSA specs. 24 more are going to them....according to CCY the sooner the better.

Thanks SkyGuy25. So there are actually completed 700s in US colours?

I wonder are there are photos anywhere? Anyone know when is it scheduled to go into service and on what routes? I'm assuming they will be flying before the E170s.

Yes they are in complete US colors and specs. They are building them as we speak, and have not stopped. Bombardier does not at all seem worried about Airways credit rating, and are in full support of this CRJ 200 and 700 order to the WO. The only problem that exists, is the fact that no one as of date is qualified to fly them. So what if PSA has them- they can not be flown as of yet. Mainline is pushing them (PSA) to work harder and faster, so I am to believe that PSA is active and centered in part of this "plan" that has yet to be revealed. Every one at Airways has been impressed with PSA's adaptability and transistion to the so to be all jet fleet. PSA is scheduled to received 25 700's ASAP- as well as the promised 60 200's which are being delivered at a rate of 4 a month. 2 more are being delivered to them this month bringing the cumulitive count of 25 D0-328's and 12 CRJ200's by March 1st. the first 700 is scheduled for them on the 1st of March. new cities such as BOS ATL and PVD are going to be introduced into PSA's route system. they already do LGA and DCA, becoming the make-shift shuttle if the mainline product is sold?????

People People People

Don't let the facts get in your way.

US Airways does not own the Shuttle, it is part of mainline, there are not even seperate shuttle planes anymore,US Airways owns the slots for the necessary flights, oh and by the way the slots are collateral for the ATSB loan, the loan documents say you have to pay the loan down 50% before buying or selling anything and the last time I checked if something is collateral you can't sell it.

PS. Mesa does not own any Airbus planes, not even certified to fly them and don't enough have enough aircraft to fly their current routes.

The -700 is a much superior aircraft to the -200 and yes, PSA is going to get 25 of them. If memory serves, they can also get another 30 per the U pilots scope clause.

It is a short differences class and bingo you can fly the -700. Same type rating. U needs these aircraft desperately. The cost of leasing/flying these aircraft is only slightly higher than the -200 and there is no problem taking a full load with all the bags and going from lets say, CLT to SAT, AUS, OMA, or PIT to the same cities. Can easily go 3 hours block with a full load. Would be perfect to go out and get more revenue i.e. new passengers into the U system.

The only wrinkle is over who gets to fly them. The original J4J protocol says furloughed U pilots get to fly all the 70 seat equipment. In return, the PSA pilots would get a like number of -200's to fly themselves. This would assure that no original PSA pilot would lose their job when the 30 DO-328' go away. When the -700's seemed to fall through, it didn't matter. It should be an easy matter to resolve and U will benefit greatly from these aircraft. As an added benefit, I makes PSA that much more valuable.

Hum, I was just told by my check airman that MESA had a 700 headed east just the other night.

The U scope clause allows all I stated in my post AND also allows MESA or another affiliate carrier to have 25 -700's. The only rub is that all the -700 equipment must be operating by DEC 31, 2004. This was designed by the company and ALPA to allow the company to quickly ramp up RJ feed but not dilute the fact that the jobs for the 70 seat equipment went 100% to U furloughed pilots and MAA.

So did PSA agree to LOA 83 and 100% APL Staffing?

If not, then how could it be a PSA CRJ-700?

PSA did not agree to LOA83. No info is available as to whether any communication between the PSA MEC and Mainline MEC is going on. PSA is still dead set on 50/50 on any aircraft types on the PSA property. On Jan. 12 through the 14th the PSA NC meet with PSA Mgt. to disscuss 70 seat pay rates. None, to this date, have been established.

I know there is at least one 700 completed with the PSA logo at the door and the factory talking about a late Feb. delivery. As of last week, at least 20 mechanics have gone to class for the 700 with over 40 sched. to go in the coming months.

Given the very limited info regarding any particulars, it's anyones guess at this point as to whether the Mainline MEC will agree to the 50/50 staffing ratios or not. I suppose if they (Mainline MEC) decide not to give PSA 50/50 on the 70 seaters (as they gave to the contract carriers) then the factory could just as easily change the "Operated by PSA Airlines" sign to someone else.
