Sikorsky Hits Back (Sun-Sentinel)

The stakes in the 5-week-old Sikorsky strike were raised Wednesday as the company announced its first step toward moving work out of Connecticut and the Navy expressed concerns about dwindling supplies of spare parts for helicopters used in Iraq and elsewhere.

DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN! What the hell has this country come to when a lousy LABOR CONTRACT takes priority over the lives of our warriors oversees!I have been asked many times on these boards by what justification I work at NWA. I now throw that right back! By what justification do you put the lives of our fine warriors in jeapordy? What twisted logic would you use to console the widow of a fallen soldier or Marine who died due to worn out parts or aircraft!?! "gee little guy, I'm sorry your dad died fighting over there, but I really needed that extra health insurance".
and they call scabs dis-honorable........

Come on CSAR, dont you think your being a little over dramatic? read the news report for Christ sakes. the Navy contends there is no problem and they are monitoring the situation.

Don't you think before things become Dire, that Bush will order the strikers back to work? IT's not going to come to that because both sides are close on resolving the issues and it will be settled with both sides saving face...JMHO

Yeah, I suppose your right. Sorry for the rant.

Relieved union members say they're happy to return to Sikorsky

The 3,500 Teamsters will begin returning to work tomorrow after voting 1,488-1,416 to accept the contract, which contained the same health care cost-sharing plan that was at the center of the dispute.
The helicopter maker expects to return to full production by next Monday, said company spokesman Bud Grebey.
"We're just very excited it's behind us," Grebey said. "We're looking forward now and we're focused on the future."
Tight finances and a lack of faith in the union leadership contributed to the decision by a majority to accept the contract, said John Gozzi, a 28-year veteran at Sikorsky who runs a blog on the strike and voted in favor of the contract.

Food for thought.......
