My sympathies to all the families, friends of Asiana 214 and especially to the family of the two teenage girls. I totally understand why and how things are being handled with this misfortune.

We’ve relaxed our change-fee policies. If your trip is affected, you can change your trip online (in most cases) -- we’ll waive your change fees!
Here’s how:
• Book the same origin and destination
• If you are scheduled to travel July 7 or 8, your travel date may be changed to travel July 9, 10 or 11.
You may have to pay to change your trip if:
• You change your origin and/or destination
• Your travel is outside the dates listed above
• There is a difference in fare
Here's my question, Mr. A was booked to go on vacation to San Francisco for this week. Mr. A could not extend his return due to his company vacation, basically had to be back at work on the 15th. He wanted to stay there for 7 days and was willing to change his dates to later in the summer for where he could get another week off. Why don't US just come out and say that the ticket will keep its original value and no-charge change fee for travel on US for 6 months? I believe that would be fair. I understand the circumstances are beyond their control, but there are also factors on Mr A too, working with his company. It is summer and certain companies you have to pick your weeks far ahead, and some can't be accommindated. Am I wrong on my idea?
