So we have this sick policy....
4 times you get written up.
7 times and you are out the door.

Our hotels are not acceptable and are unhealthy.
The air quality is disgusting. When do they change
the air filters? Ever?
We get sick for staying in these places and then
get fired for calling in sick.

Anyone else see a lawsuit here?

Here are some symtoms of Mold:

Immune system suppression
Respiratory problems including asthma and infections
Eye irritation with burning, watery or reddened eyes
Cough – dry and hacking
Nose or throat irritation or both
Skin rashes or irritation
Memory impairment
Irritable bowel syndrome
Body aches and pain (Chronic Fatigue)
Food Intolerances and allergies
Headaches
Mood swings
Nasal and sinus congestion

Just say NO to crappy unhealthy hotels!
Each and every night we need to fill out an ops report!

While at MidTitanic we stayed at a Houston hotel that PSA crews stayed at.

GROSS

Mold in the bathroom, pieces of plaster missing, handprints on the walls, ripples in the carpet, often it took several room changes to find the least disgusting room.

ICK!

"Memory impairment
Body aches and pain (Chronic Fatigue)
Headaches
Mood swings"

And here I thought all of this was just me getting old! I should have know it was the companies fault all along!

:D

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Members,
Just for clarification purposes, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law which provides up to 12 weeks of job protection while on a "leave" for employees who have a serious medical condition, OR for an immediate family member you may have to care for.

The Personal Care Leave (PCL) which is provided for in our contract and is under the FMLA umbrella, provides for an "intermittent leave" for illnesses that require an absence from work for a minimum of 5 days. The requirement for PCL in our contract is that f/as must have 450 hours of pay time including sick and vacation used within a preceding 12 month calendar year. These types of "leaves" must be renewed yearly if you continue to need time off work for a serious health condition for you or your family member.

If you are requesting a Medical Leave of Absence for a surgery or illness, which is provided for in our contract section 20, you can obtain the necessary paperwork from the in-flight administrative supervisors to be filled out by your physician. It is NOT necessary or required that you obtain FMLA/PCL documents if you are only requesting a medical leave.

If you are requesting some OTHER type of "leave" provided for in our contract, you are NOT required to fill out the FMLA/PCL documents nor is your physician, regardless of whether the administrative supervisor requests or hands you these documents. Even if you acquire a work injury (OIJ), the FMLA/PCL paper work is not a requirement and is unnecessary for your physician to fill out.

The administrative supervisor may hand you the FMLA/PCL paperwork and ask for you to have your physician fill them out for "job protection" as they put it), along with your medical leave documentation. But again, it is NOT necessary to have your physician fill out the FMLA/PCL documents as you are NOT requesting this type of leave in conjunction with your medical leave.

Keep in mind, however, that the company will apply the FMLA/PCL (time) benefit to ALL types of leaves, regardless of the type of "leave" you are on even if you are NOT requesting it.

If you are still unsure or need further clarification, please call the PIT local office 724-695-3329.

I think FMLA is great. I am glad that there is a system to help people who are sick. But with all programs there will be people who take advantage of it. In this case it is not the people being sick taking advantage it is our employeer. PSA.
They chose to put us in unhealthy hotels. If anyone should be paying us for being sick is the company. Then after they get the huge sick time bill they will understand that if they spend a little bit more now (Get better hotels)they can save a lot later.
