"Airborne Express flies a number of converted YS-11 Freighters for profit"-ABX hasn't had these for almost 10 years.

So shoot me for not including the word "passenger" in my post... I'm more than aware there are more freighter props over 15 years old than not.

Chalks is the exception in the Caribbean I was referring to.

Point being they keep going long past thier supposed expiration date

Sure they do. And you can still find operational B707s being sold for seven figures. It doesn't mean that they're profitable for passenger service, though.

Regardless, it isn't like U used them for 10 years and then wrote them off for scrap... Someone is still paying a market value for the 328's which reflects how much more flying time should be expected on the respective airframes.

According to the court documents, only Three (3) CRJs-701 being purchased.

And they agreed to use the purchase deposits on file for master order to be used as money for the cure payments on all the CRJs in PSA's Fleet.

Of course U didn't write them off as scrap...U didn't OWN them to begin with.

The issue is...Short-sightedness , PAST and PRESENT , the never ending cycle.

U leased the Do's but we had a hell of an investment in spare parts and crew/Maint Training that was totally seperate by type from that of the two other WO's.

People mainly executives love to use the term "Economy of Scale" when talking about knifing the work force...but I'll be damned if they use it when someone is swaying thier choices on durable issues like Acft Leases/Purchases

On another front..lets go back to 1997 when U bought into the Airbus as the future of our company..and the reasons why are numerous when buying into a bill of goods in terms of long term utilization again....but here we are striking a deal with GE to park 10 of these electric jets while retaining much older Acft. Sure we are losing 15 B737-300's as well..and Boy do I hate to see that happen , but if the Airbus is what is going to carry us forward , why pray tell are we ngotiating them away and keeping what was told to us to be far less efficient?

The issue is....Utilization and Longevity to get a return on your investment...we are getting niether , but we are having to deal with the revolving door on parts , training and all the other issues of changing acft types all too often..or even chosing the wrong type or an ill-logical type that the Do-328 has proven itself to be in the all too soon end.

I guess you have all forgotten about the aging Dash many of which are over 15 years old some will be be turning 20 in 2005
