A senior IAM Union Rep was spreading the word this morning that USAirways preliminary plans call for a reduction in flights to around 62 mainline flights and 38 commuter flights.

A total of around 100 flights per day will be all we will have out of Pittsburgh come September.

God Bless Us One And All !!!!!!!!!

Can someone define a "focus city" for me as compared to "hub"? I am not sure what the difference is. Thanks in advance.

Your information is not correct. Stop spreading rumors.

The HAWK has spoken representing management therefore we can all count on honesty and virtue just as history has shown.

Well, contributing to rumors, I heard today in the Pit Crew Room from an MAA, F/A whose husband is a mechanic for us, that Pit and Clt maintance both were closing and that she also heard from a 33 yr. person within the company that we were merging with America West.!!!!! Rumors, rumors, rumors or FACT????

This rumor carries as much weight as HAWK'S comments that's for sure.

I would have to agree that since "Hawk' has called number of flights a rumor it going to happen......... :p

Rumor or Not we are currently at about 100 mainline flights out of Pittsburgh so a drop to 62 flights is not that far fetched at all.
Remember the company has already told us that Pittsburgh will no longer be a hub but a Focus city concentrating on mainly point to point flights.

whats gonna happen to the commuter cities like fwa, lex, grr, tol.... etc?

Bye, Bye........ No need for service to a focus city. The only way that even one of those could continue to get service is to have a great revenue feed through PIT to another destination. None of those mentioned provide that situation.

Nothing more or less than Southwest or jetBlue would do at PIT. Fly point-to-point between the Top 10 Origin and Destination market from PIT. If US Airways does this at PIT, what's left for Southwest and jetBlue to do in PIT???

As far as regional service at PIT? Fly point-to-point service from PIT to markets within 400 nm that will generate 60-70% loads. On a Dash-8-200 that only 21 revenue passengers needed per flight.

Thats at "Focus Hub"
