Hello, I apologize if I have the wrong post, I am currently looking into flight trainning to become a Professional Pilot. Well as I am sure eveyone knows it is very difficult to figure out which schools are good and which ones are bad. So I decided to see if anyone can help me. I am relocating to the Phoneix Area and there are 3 schools I am talking with at the moment.

1. Pan Am Int. Flight Academy
2. ATP Flight Trainning
3.Westwind School of Aeronautics

They all seem to offer something good, but I have racked my brain the last few weeks and I am still at a impass. If ANYONE has any opinons or information you can give me I would appreciate it greatly.

Since this is a big financial investment, as well as personal I want to make a educated decision and not be "lost" when it comes to this endevour. This has always been a dream for me and I amreally excited that I am going to start. Again any help would be appreciated and I thank you all ahead of time!

Respectfully,
Ross M. Olivas

With the cost of aircraft rental and AVgas is it cost effective to purchase an aircrft with the auto fuel STC and hiring an instructor on the side for training? Also is the King ground school training packages worth anything?

...looking into being a SCAB pilot now are ya?

Just interested in flying for recreational purposes and the occasional two to three hundred mile cross-country flights. I figure with the cost of fuel now I might just as well fly. Are you a pilot local? Do you own a plane? Can you provide anything of value to this thread? If so please do so. If not...well you know.

.......as a matter of fact I do fly and no I dont own a plane, as they say "If it flies, floats, or f..ks" its cheaper to rent it

 You are right about that and I have had plenty of opportunities to learn that for myself as well, yet I always find myself saying, “well maybe this time…â€￾ I will consider that a worthy note to my question. What type of flying do you do?

strictly recreational on weekend's occasionally, what little extra spending money I have is usually spent on my 15 year old son who is now wanting a car.

I don't have to worry about that just yet but I am indeed feeling the pinch of the kids extracurricular activities. School is bad enough but when you start throwing in extras it starts to get out of hand. I don't even want to think about cars yet. I'm sure you know as well as I do that a 15 year old has no business in a car. I'm thinking 18 is to young. But you know you can't hold them back either. It’s a catch 22 you can't win.

Same here, as a matter of fact I find myself in de’jevue, situations only reversed all the time. I can't help but to laugh at my son, my father and myself. I am going to try and get my son interested in flying at an early age, if he takes it up that will be great if not at least we will have some fun.
