I have noticed that US dropped down to 1 flight from
PHL-SEA to 1 from 3
PHL-DEN to 2 from 3
PHL-SAN to 3 from 4
PHL-PHX to 4US 2HP from 3US 3HP
(Also no 2 flights in the 10am Bank PHL-PHX)moved the flight to 8:35am

I know that some are seasonal but SEA cut that back only to have 1 flight. Also I see that PHL-ORD will have some A321 and A319's. I just checked a few routes so if there are more suprises, list them.

About a month ago I was looking to book ABE-SEA for late November. With only 1 nonstop via PHL, I saw some wierd connections on the website, such as ABE-CLT-LAS-SEA. I wanted to use the $99 companion voucher from the US Airways Mastercard for my wife. I had to call reservations for that. The best companion fare they could offer was about $100 more than 2 regular tickets on United flying ABE-ORD-SEA. I also find it hard to believe that winter traffic between PHL and SEA only warrants 1 nonstop per day.

Hey gang,

I have worked the CLT PHX leg a bunch of times in the past 6 weeks. We have had 110-120 connections each time in PHX. I assume these are premium dollars to premium destinations.

The flight back east I have worked have had alot of connections, noteably from hawaii. Seems like MGT would want to capitalize on these premium routes and connections. NOT!

We should have almost hourly service hub to hub since the demand clearly dictates. Try finding a seat to PHX or LAS, what kind of money is this MGT team throwing away, but why bother, the employees will pay for it!

I am confused. I thought many of those connections were to destinations like TUS, SMF, OAK, SNA, etc.... Are those "premium" destinations? They are all saturated by LCC's, most notably WN, which offers low nonstop fares from PHX and LAS As well!

I think you could probably fill 30 flights a day from the East hubs to PHX. Does that mean they would be a cash cow? Guess I am confused when you say they are "premium routes" and "premium destinations....

Well, considering WN does not yet fly to CLT, US can stand to make a few bucks by connecting these pax in PHX.

I don't. I've been commuting for work DCA-SEA since 2002 and profitable traffic in the winter to SEA falls off a cliff, especially for US with its east coast hubs. NW still captures a good deal of SEA traffic, but it's hub in MSP makes this possible.

You're correct Flyer. We go to a north-south operation in the winter and take the aircraft from the east-west op. I think we've been doing this for years.

PHX is still, for the most part, a low yield, leisure destination. What difference does it make if the people are coming from CLT to PHX?

I was basing it off of Bus Driver's comments about the number of pax connecting in PHX. I am referring to people starting/terminating in CLT and flying to/from cities like SNA, ONT,PDX, HI, etc, that require a connection in PHX.

Did you not notice the profit the company is making...I think they are on the track and have the numbers to look at.
