It sounded just like a Honda Civic with a busted muffler when it set down.

A lesser machine would have come apart. That's what you get when you build 'em to go into harm's way.

I'm guessing the proceedure I heard about where they use a high speed "dremel like" tool to relief cracks in the composite blades may have just found it's limit as to how many and how deep you can go before here is a problem.
