If you saw how little that position pays, you would lose any interest. You may be able to afford a closet to live in.

There is not a posting on compass...where are you seeing this? You are right...the SM position starts at 38 thousand...not enought to put food on the table for sure!

38K a year to handle what, 2 flights a day, I think I would have time to work a second job and live in paradise. The skies over there are so blue. Better, way better, than this bowl of brown crap that I live in. Just my thoughts.......

i guess ill ask again, IF anyone knows about what is going or who is going to handle our operations in hawaii, up to and including ogg..........thanks B)

Really? 38K is all the station manager gets?

I remember William Franke stating if you are looking to make a living here (AWA), look elsewhere. So I did! But really, 38K? I don't thking 38K would pay the cost to live on the beach. Blue skies yeah, but you still have to eat!

I was told that they are subbing it out--there are ground-handling companies over there to do it. Also heard that there will be one mgr. for all of the islands operations. But, also heard the rumor that this new carrier of ours will be investing in Aloha, that is investing--not merging or buying, so who knows. I do not have the facts--this is just what I was told, and my source wasn't necessarliy a good one.

Saw the pay scale on the job vacancy posting at work. A single person may find a studio apartment for $1200/month. Live on a diet of rice and beans, never flush the toilet, take showers at work, turn lights down low, don't own a car and ride a bike to work, recycle the toilet paper (who said it can only be used once), teach a small dog to dance to Hawaiian music and have tourists pay to watch... You might make it. :p

I worked in HNL for HP the first time around in 1989. We had HP manager, supervisors, ops agent, and customer service agents. All the ramp stuff was handled by Aloha Airlines Contract Services. They did a great job for us. There are several companies in HNL that do contract customer service for other airlines. One of my friends that used to work with me at HP in HNL has worked for them since the HNL station closed. Not a peep about how it will be handled this time around. Although one of the supervisors in LAX for HP...who used to be the manager of our Nagoya station....is applying for one of the supervisor positions in HNL. Personally, I think he should apply to be the manager. He's more than qualified.

Can I ask where the su positions are posted? I did not see them on compass only the manager position...???

I didn't personally look for the supv. positions in HNL, as I am not interested in transferring from inflight to a ground position....not in a million years would I want that position again. The information was passed on to me by a supv. in our LAX station. The positions may not be open yet and he was just expressing his intention to apply. If they are going to post the opening I would think it would be coming soon. We applied in August 1989 and our hire date was Oct. 3rd...so it took about 2 months to process us.

I would love to see HP/US open up more of the Hawai'ian Islands to LAS. I would love to see a tag on all flights to make them profitable. Something like LAS-HNL-KOA-LAS or LAS-LIH-HNL-LAS. Just my thoughts.........
